I mean, you want them to be very well attached so they don't become projectiles while wheeling.
Yeah agreed, but you also want them to detach real fast when you need them... And these velcro look like they'd take some time to detach...

Good article...

Not at all- All one needs to do is rip the top most velcro, and the extinguisher will slide right out.

It is a PITA to get the extinguisher back in though

it's completley illegal to run without a 3rd brakelight. if you vehicle came with a third brake light then it must stay on there.

not entirely true

If the vehicle has a 3rd brake light, it must be working.

Can the 3rd brake light be removed? That varies from state to state.

I stand corrected, but I do know it is illegal in michigan, ohio, indiana, cali and a few other states. But only for certain year vehicles, I belive it was a federal requirment on all vehicles 93 or 94 and newer.

Correct- it was federally mandated that all cars manufactured from 1993+ be equipped with it from the factory. Just like recently mandated that all cars manufactured from 2008+ must have TPMS. But those are just requirements that the manufacturers have to deal with. Once sold, it then becomes the consumer's issue, and the consumer has to follow state laws as to whether they must keep those items.

Here in TX, the law simply states that we must have 2 brake lights... So the 3rd one is completely optional (many people remove them). But if it's there, it must work- or you can get a ticket.

Not really. Cops love to use "little things" like broken tail lights, broken headlights, etc as an excuse to pull someone over to check them out. The cops catch a lot of bigger stuff (drugs, weapons, warrants, etc) by pulling people over for the little things.
