Just got the Unlimited Sahara

Hey folks, just picked up a Black/Black Sahara Unlimited, pictures later as the Jeep is hidden away in a friends garage waiting on Santa to bring it to my wife.

I want to dress it up a tad, with some chrome, and I was told the black tie package was not available when I made my purchase.

I have found the chrome fuel door online but that's about it as far as chrome touches.

Couple of questions,

1. Can I use the Mopar Chrome fuel door, even though I have the locking fuel cap?

2. Any other chrome recommendations?

Next time I get to slip out to drive it, I will snap some pictures.

Cipro

Congratulations, Cipro. And, a warm welcome to the forum.

I've put a Mopar locking gas cap on my JK and don't believe it's any bigger than stock. So... the Mopar fuel door should fit. If not, the parts guy would have that notation in his fitment specs.

Wow! Congrats!! She will love it! I've ordered one - same as yours black/black, Oct 10th and I'm still waiting. The dealership http://www.rickgladwell.com/ believes it's in production and hopes it will be here in a few weeks.

So, how long after you ordered yours did it arrive?

That's the same one I'll be ordering this coming week... did you opt for the 18" wheels/Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts combination?

As regards dressing it up, have you considered the "brushed aluminum" dash/door applique kit?

Can't wait to see your pix! Congratulations.

Thanks for all the warm greetings.

Actually, I did not order it, I sort of lucked into it.

Story goes, wife and I test drive an unlimited X at the local dealer. All they have are Unlimited with 16" wheels, soft tops and colors we would not like.

So I spent a couple of days on Jeep's website calling dealers from 250 miles away and in. I found the exact Model I wanted a couple of states away.

Called em on the phone, a day of "the game" and we worked out a deal. They drove it to me and I paid the drivers.

The specs are

2007 Sahara Unlimited, Black/Black Dual Top - Dark Gray Interior
18" Wheels
Automatic (I know I know, but its for the wife)

It had some other options like the tow package, sirus radio.

I am going to take it out today, so I will take some shots.

Im going to get the chrome fuel cover, I would like the wire rear light covers also, and a few more chrome items.

She is gonna be so excited....and when Spring comes....its will rock.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Great looking JK Cipro. Funny, we had the same kind of Christmas. But, it was my wife that surprised me with a JK. She bought the exact JK I wanted sight unseen. After searching the entire Southeast, she found it in Realigh, NC. She had the key hidden in the tree, and we drove up the day after Christmas to get it. I think I have a keeper....

Thanks guys!

I have ordered a few chrome items for a little bling, (fuel door, rear lamp cages, exhaust)

The more we drive it the more we love it. I have an Infinity FX that I love to drive because of it is so tight, but there is nothing like a Jeep for fun.

The black black is starting to grow on me....I think we are gonna be glad that we we that route, except for the 3 x a week car washes.

Looks good.

Just a lfunny story about the FX45 ( maybe 35, I dont remember).

I drive a towtruck , and towed a tiny Philipino lady who had her Infinite smashed up in an accident. This lady had to have been 4 foot nothing. Anyways, drop it at the dealer, hop in to turn the key and get the odometer reading and roll up the back windows and stuff.

Now being 6'4, it was a tight fit. Then I turned the key. I only had one leg in as I was kinda leaning in. The Auto presets for the tiny 2 foot lady started to adjust to her settings.

The steering wheel came down on my arm, trapping me there then the seat inched forward almost crushing me. I had my left hand pinned by my left leg and was basically trapped.

Was embarrassing having to yell across the lot to get the homesless guy with a shopping cart to come over and help me out by turning the key off. Only cost me 2 smokes!

Just curious, that isn't the same jeep in the second picture. That must be the one you test drove. Its got a Trail Rated tag on it, the Sahara doesn't.

Yep that must not be the same Sahara as the other pics taken on the same day

The Trail Rated Badge is only on the drivers side.....
