JK Wheel backspacing

08 Unlimited Rubicon

I am adding a 2" Rusty's Basic Lift and am going to go with 16" or 17" steel rims and a set of BFG MT KM2s that are around 33x11 or 12... something like 285/75r16, 305/70r16, 285/70r17, or 305/65r17 with the 285's being about 11" wide and the 305's being closer to 12" wide.

I have to decide on a 16x8 rim with either 4.25" backspacing or 5" backspacing or the 17x8 rim with 4.5" backspacing. My biggest concern is the backspacing, how far the tire sticks out from under the fender, and rub. I understand backspacing, but have no idea how much backspacing a stock rubi rim has...

Is anyone running something similar that can give advice or show pics?

stock wheels are 6.25" back spacing

I'm running 35" x 12.5" BFG KM2's mounted on 16x8 wheels with 4.5" back spacing.

Crager D-Window steelies. Cheap so I don't cry when I rock rash them- and they do have plenty of rock rash. Last week I went to get my usual 3000 mile balance & rotate. The guy balancing looked at one, started laughing, and asked "what the hell did you do to this?"

On one of the other ones, they couldn't get the center cap out because it was so bashed up. I had to tell them to just hit it with a hammer.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking Black Rock 16x8 with 305/70r16's will look good!
