if you think you can tow it, do so safely. if you question it, you probably shouldnt tow it. thats my rule

The JK 2-door can tow more than 2k pounds. Can it stop more than that? I dunno I tow a 17ft fiberglass boat that's around there and it feels fine, both power-wise and brake-wise. But I wouldn't want to tow much more. Maybe an 18ft fiberglass boat with a 4 cyl engine is about it...

When we bought our 2-dr JK, we thought it had a 2000lb towing capacity. Afterward, we found out due to our low 3.21 gear ratio it only tows 1000lbs and were quite shocked. Fortunately, we have been towing our dual jet skis at around 1500lbs without any problems. Check your gear ratio.

Not that simple.

As stated above, 3.21 gears limits the listed capacity to 1000 lbs on both 2dr and 4dr.

Yea, if it's 3.21 your max tow is 1000lbs. Which is crappy for hills... if you plan on towing, go for 3.73+ ratio. Short wheel base doesn't help.

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.

Sorry. I should have mentioned I'm 2 door, **towing package**, 6sp, 3.73. Trailer has a single axle and no brakes. Relying 100% on my Jeep's brakes for stopping. Totally comfortable towing a small runabout.

The 3.21s don't matter that much. If youre stick just stay in 4th or 5th and if youre auto turn over drive off or even manually shift it in slow/steep spots.
