Are JK Rubicon and JK Unlimited shocks the same???

I usually stick to the XJ part of the forum but need ask this question.

Are the Rubicon and Unlimited shocks the same?

I've done a 2.5" - 3" budget boost (waiting for it to settle in) to my 99 XJ and need shocks. In the mean time, some have posted that JK shocks would work. I saw a post were they used one that was red and black, from a Rubicon.

I've met someone who is selling 4 shock from a 2008 JK Unlimited and wanted to know if they are the same.

Hope someone could chime in with some input.

Thanks.

I know the Rubi and JK S package comes with gas shocks - not sure about the Unlimited. Anyway, I have a set of JK gas shocks with 14k on them - free if someone pays shipping?

Well they have different part #'s so I would say they are different. What the difference is... I dont know. I do know that I've been to 2 dealerships and they both instantly questioned whether my Rubi shocks were stock. Think the red threw them off.

My X unlimited came with Hydraulic shocks. A lot smoother ride than the gas shocks on a rubi.

From what I've been told, Rubi's are gas while sport's and sahara's are hydro.

Just noticed. Zombie thread from 2008.
