Local Jiffy Lube place is still charging the better part of $100 for an oil change with 6 qts of synthetic - and, I assume, a really crappy filter. So I'm saving about $60 each time I do it myself.

Chart also shows a $140 difference between changing the diff fluids myself, rather than having the dealer do it.

Chart also shows the cost of changing the t-case fluid is practically nothing, so why not do it when changing diff fluids every 15K miles, rather than the every 60K miles the owner's manual calls for? It asks you to inspect every 15K miles, but frankly, if you're going to go through the trouble of taking the skid plate off and removing the plug so you can check out the fluid, you might as well just replace it for $8-9 while you're there.

In case anyone is wondering - I'm guessing that what I was referring to as "Next Due at 50,000 miles" with the tires I put on at 13,157 miles is the life expectancy of the tires - but frankly, I'm just guessing. I'm not entirely sure why I put that value in there (:

M1 = Mobile 1 Oil. I get the 5 QT container of 5w20 from Walmart for $22 (doesn't seem to be available anywhere else). I got the diff fluid from a local Mobile 1 distributor, at a slight cost savings, plus additional cost savings from buying a case (and splitting with someone else). I think I have enough diff fluid on hand for 3 or 4 more changes (:

K&N HP-1002 oil filters have gone up. Used to be able to get them locally for $10. Now that place has them for $18. I got the one today from Napa for $14 (and they had just one). I'm going to start buying them on-line for $12 from (Amazon.com: K&N HP-1002 Oil Filter: Automotive) Amazon I guess. I need to order 4-5 next time I order something from Amazon.

I guess that's about it for notations (:

nice write up. I think I'm going to follow suit and start documenting my service as well. I guess I don't ned to rotate my tires at every 3k oil change though. I think I will do every other at 6k like you are doing....

Do you only put 5 quarts in? Or do you buy an extra quart to get to the 6 quarts specified in the manual?

i am sure that is misleading. did you need new tires at 13k or just upgrade? Price looks steep too.

Of course I put 6 quarts in (:

I buy the 5 qt containers and measure out a 6th quart - a lot cheaper than buying a 1 qt bottle (:

On the tires - I upgraded (didn't wear out the stockers), and yes, they were pricey.
