I think the JK sounds awful without a muffler. It sounds good at idle but that's about it. After 3,000rpm I can't tell the difference between the Jeep and a civic.

I used the flowmaster delta 44, 67.88 plus 40 to weld in. Sounds great. I'm going to modify the old heat shield and install above the muffler. The muffler listed as 2 1/8, thought it would fit inside, did not, the muffler is weld made with a thick pipe. It ended up being the same outside diameter as the stock pipes.

ive done this mod with my 07 and 09 tacomas. really fantastic bang for the buck.has anyone deleted the tailpipe for a simple turndown? doing this greatly reduces the risk of bashing up your exhaust...

At least with the unlimited, after you remove the stock muffler the pipe ends around the axle. So, no need to add anything.

I just ordered a 3.5 inch wide 8" long cherry bomb glasspack for $30 I cant wait to hear how this will sound. I youtubed some vehicles with a 3.8L and I liked it. Some people dont like the glasspack style sound but to me they sound great.

I raised the budget on mine to just under $200 and went with the HushPower (by Flowmaster) and a stainless tip.
There are more pics in my thread but here are a couple.

You didn't have to go back that far! I was looking at the hushpower just earlier this year. Found some vids on YouTube.
