JK CB Antenna Mounts

Hey All,

Last Fall I installed a all-band IC-7000 Ham Radio in my Jeep:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/electronics-cabinet-radio-install-481336/

I decided it was finally time to put the HF antenna on. I found the following two products:

http://tmrce.stores.yahoo.net/jeep-w...amp-cable.html

http://www.teraflex.biz/installsheet...BM_install.pdf

And since one mounted on the left and the other on the right, I figured i'd get them both.

Here's a pic of them both on the Jeep:

Here's the Teraflex:

and here's the CFE Products:

Here is my Diamond Trunk Mount w/dual band from the previous install:

The dual bander has worked out really well for the last year. Notice how the black bar lined up perfect! (no, I didn't paint it, it was built like that!)

Here's a close up of the outbacker in the CFE mount. It presses just slightly against the spare tire (it's a thick antenna)

I still need to pick up some coax and build out the teraflex mount. I also plan to run a dedicated ground to both mounts. The teraflex mount is very well built. If they made the teraflex mount for both sides I woud definitly run them on both sides. I think long term I''ll have the outbacker on the Teraflex and a FireStick CB antenna on the CFE.

Here's the final shot:

This weekend I should be able to tune up the antenna. Stay Tuned!

I have the Teraflex too. It's perfect for mounting an offroad flag on in addition to the antenna. Looks good man!

Drudging this back up...

I picked up a firestick 3' fiberglass antenna, 18' coax, teraflex mount, and the adapter piece for the antenna to coax. Do I need to run a dedicated ground from the adapter piece or will I be alright without (shouldnt the mount itself technically be grounded)? Also...where can I go to tune the antenna if I don't have a SWR meter (or is a meter inexpensive)??

Thanks, guys. Mike

Yes, ground the antenna to the mount and the door to the chassis (I used some flex copper cable near the hinge) and most CB shops will help you tune it, esp if you buy the antenna from them. Rocky, also
