I posted the VIN information a few days ago in the Wrangler General Discussion area. Here it is:
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate is located on the lower windshield fence near the left A-
pillar. The VIN contains 17 characters that provide data concerning the vehicle. Refer to the VIN
decoding chart to determine the identification of a vehicle.
The Vehicle Identification Number is also imprinted on the:
 Vehicle Safety Certification Label.
 Frame rail.
To protect the consumer from theft and possible fraud the manufacturer is required to include a Check
Digit at the ninth position of the Vehicle Identification Number. The check digit is used by the
manufacturer and government agencies to verify the authenticity of the vehicle and official
documentation. The formula to use the check digit is not released to the general public.

hello all. I am new to this site as well as new to jeep ownership. I have wanted one for a long time and when i spotted a 2004 wrangler in "willys" trim for sale i new i had to have it. i guess it has something to do with listening to all of grandpa's war stories. in a strange way i feel close to him every time i get in it. Now I am trying to figure out how to tell if it is a true Limited Edition. All the research i have done states that there were few of these sold. I looked at the vin decoder mentioned here but it doesnt list anything for the willys option. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like someone needs to fix their visual basic script hehe:

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.
how do you find out what the last six numbers mean? and what about the 9th number on the decoder it just said to check it nothing else?
The last six numbers is your serial number. Like your Jeep is number 010101 of 999999. So no 2 vehicles have the same VIN, even though they are the same in every way. The 9th number is a "check". The numbers of your VIN hold a total value (after some secret calculations) and is assigned a single digit, that is your checksum number. If your checksum number is wrong, your VIN is fraudulent.
I didn't get stuck; I just experienced a temporary lack of momentum.
