IPF 8161 Backup Light Install

dscf1625-800x487-.jpg

I'm installing the IPF backup light on my AEV tire carrier. The switch they provide is 1 3/8's x 2 inches deep when connected to the harness. Knowing that the space behind the dash is limited, where have others placed their switch?

You could pop off the dash side panel and measure for you switch there.

I did check the side panels. The left side kinda works, it would have to be installed on the outer edge of the dash. My concern here is that the lever to turn the light on/off sticks out 1 1/4 inches. I wish they would have provided a rocker style switch in lieu of this giant toggle.

Any other inputs?

Get a different switch more to your liking. Why install something you won’t be happy with? Although you’ll have to shell out a few more bucks for another switch, you’ll be glad in the long run.

That is what I intend on doing. I found Carling switches at OTRATTW.com for my IPF driving and backup lights. They should fit nicely into the area below the cluster on the left side dash. Now, the only decision is green or amber.....
