Inside Air Filter?

Removed my glovebox today to retrieve a paper that had fallen behind the box - found a filter in there behind the box- what is it for? Looks like an inside (recirculate?) air filter....

Many newer vehicles have cabin air filters, but did not know the Wrangler did. Seems kind of dumb to put one on a Wrangler.

Yeah, I checked my manual (not the owners but the shop) and it is an inside air filter for recirculate.

There is something behind the glove box that looks like a filter. I can understand why the OP might have thought there was one.

I replaced my with a K&N and modified the intake with a new inlet and my MPG increased!!! from 15mpg to 15.3 mgp. Dude, it's really awesome now!.... and smells so much fresher in the climate controlled cabin.

Looks like some kinda foam inserts to keep dust and such from blowing on you when the air is turned on.
