I want to lift my JK but not sure where to start.
Ok I just got my JK about a month ago. This is my first jeep ever! I must say I think I have fallen in love with it. It is all stock minus a few cosmetic things I added but, I would like to lift her up a bit. I will be honest I don't do a lot of wheeling if any, I would love to but she is my DD and I don't really want to walk when I have it in the shop to be fixed. Anyway I would like to put a set of 33's on soon so I need to lift it up. I am thinking of a Budget Boost of some kind. How high can I go before I gotta start changing driveshafts and all that out. Please let me know what you guys think....I am new to the jeep world and to moding a vehicle for that matter..............I have to say the one thing I have learned about this jeep is nothing can replace the feeling I get from just taking a stroll to the store or take a 500 mile trip in it.
Let me know what you guys think sorry I am very new to all this...Thanks Josh

Welcome to the fold! I first became addicted to Jeeps last year when I bought a used 2001 TJ. It was my gateway Jeep. At first I was sneaking around...swiping cash out of my wife's purse just to get that high of making small modifications. Next..I was skipping meals and avoiding having coffe with my work buddies so I could afford suspension lift kits and swing-away ture carriers, and fire extinguisher mounts. I first realized how bad things were getting when I completely stopped driving my 2007 Ford Expedition. It just wasn't giving me the same high. I finally realized that I had a problem when I sold my Expedition...at a significant loss...just so I could buy a new JK. And the modifications didn't stop. Even THAT didn't satisfy my addiction.
My friend..you have stepped into a very dangerous world. you think your going to be able to stop with a budget boost....THINK AGAIN!
HAH.
Seriously though...I have the teraflex leveling kit. It's easy to install...cheap ($130 so you don't have to steal from your wife's purse) and it will fit the 33 inch tire and preserve the factory ride. No mods to the driveline either.
Of the highly addicting gateway modifications...it's probably the best for the money.
I will keep it until my first set of tires wears out... Then...it's 33's and a 2.5 inch suspension lift for me.

Ok I think I like the idea of going up to 2.5 with a lift but will this bring up the front end and level it out. If you have any advice on brands and prices, please let me know. Thanks

MOST lift kits include the "rake correction" in their height estimate. teraflex and Rough Country both say that theycorrect the rake.
I kinda like Rough Country suspension lifts. I have one on my TJ and it was way less expensive that any other brand. Have had ZERO trouble from it. I have no experiemce wth RC JK lifts though. i suspect that they are nice too. they make a 2.5 budgt boost with shock extensions. Check out their website for details.

Aberle offroad has aluminum 2" spacers that fix the rake and will let you clear 33's for less than $200 ( Aberle Off Road Products)
They also have the matching rear bumper out now too... I guess I need to get the set now.

I did the 3.5 rubicon express lift. It was a pain in the butt to install and the directions were horrible, but I love it. I have it on stock wheels. DONT LAUGH AT ME :P

I am a big fan of drive it for 6 months and do your research and at the end of 6 months you should know your Jeep pretty well and will also know a lot or enough about products and problems out there with our JK's to be able to answer for yourself what you want to do to individualize your Rig.
Anyway look forward to seeing Pics and what you end up doing! Have fun with the bug!

If all you want is 33s, you dont even need a lift. I am running 33s now, took it wheeling this past weekend, and had no issues. I will be getting a lift soon though.

I got the Teraflex Levelling BB for <$130, and I'll be happy with it until I need new tires (next year) It also comes with longer sway bar disconnects, which is a plus.
BUT: post TF BB, my Jeep drives like a Jeep. Bump steer, wander, wobbles, etc. Worth every penny if only for that!!
