lol No, somewhere along the way I decided I'd use my iPod as a hard drive and keep it all there. The Mac place near me is having to pull it off a chunk at a time, and put it on a new 80 gig iPod classic, but they're doing it free, since I bought the iPod there (probably because the big Apple stores are killing them now, but it's good to support the little guy every now and then).

My only concern is when a call comes in and I'm in a noisy place, can Uconnect hear my "Transfer Call" command to switch the call from the Jeep back to the phone. I guess I'll find out in the spring when the tops come off! |

Ok, I"m a littl ebehind on this one. I love this site.. I read about the seat heater availability on the thread, ordered it and had the dealer install it. I had to have the manufacturer call the dealer to tell them that it was an authorized mopar part. Now I'm ready for the U-connect with my My-Gig radio. Do I need the order the parts from the dealer or somewhere else and just have the dealer activate it? I think the dealer owes me a freebee since they said my seat heater install would only take an hour and I sat at the dealer for 6 hours while they figured it out. Great job just slow.. I'm sure I can get them to activate it but when I asked about ordering the u-connect for my 08 rubi they said not available.
Help me out-- It looks like I just need to be pointed in the right direction. |

I havent been able to get any of the U-connect features to work for the IPOD itself.. however the IPOD cable does work.. I plug in my Ipod then press the AUX button on my radio and then pressing the number 1 preset allows me to cycle through my Ipod playlists using the right hand radio dial and then press in my right hand radio dial to start a playlist.. from what I understand the voice commands for Ipod are still not available... however it will be just a software upgrade when they are.. the IPOD cable plugs into the telematics module..which similar to the writeup I loacted under my glove box.. I then ran the Ipod cable into my glovebox this way the Ipod is out of easy view inside my glovebox..
for the Iphone: I dont see a way to send the audio over bluetooth for music but i have verizon and not AT&T so no Iphone. other things I noted during the Install: My jeep is a 2008 that was built on 12/20/07 it is a 6 speed X unlimited 1] when removing the center bezel I noted: a) I removed the center vents from the bezel: do this by grabbing the OUTER vent ring and rotating the whole assembly CLOCKWISE about an 1/8 of a turn.. then pull the vent assembly out. noting that when it is reinstalled it will only fit one way in the opening. b) after removing the top 2 screws there are 2 clips at the top left and right of the radio..pop those clips with your putty knife or in my case I used a TrimStick c) there are 2 more clips to the left and right of the A/C controls. you can pop these out the same way.. Now im not sure if RichC's was made this way but I also Popped the bottom diagonal faceplate under the power outlets and switch panel.. there is 2 clips at the top of that panel that you pop with the trimstick and then plate tips forward and comes out.. d) on the front main bezel then there are 2 more clips beside the power outlets and then 2 screws at the bottom of the bezel.. I removed all and it was ver yeasy to deal with rather than trying to bend it out... *although i did note 2 clips missing from the factory so when the jeep is in the dealer this week for simoniz ill get those replaced * 2] these plastic dash pieces appear to be very temperature sensitive.. I started this in my drive and noticed in the OhiO cold the panels got very stiff right away... moved the jeep into my Heated garage and kicked the furnace at 75 and they flex real easy. I located my Mic where it is in the writeup and have used some voice commands pretty successfully driving down the road at 60 on the freeway and I have a soft top.. during setup the system will warn you about being in park.. since i have a stick it doesnt see a park position but it will let you continue setup... thanks to RichC for the writeup definately a Huge help!!!! -Christopher

So, Jeeparoo, does the iPod adapter plug into the Uconnect module or the radio itself?
Also, when you say you hit AUX, then use the radio control to scroll through play lists, can you actually see the playlist names on the radio itself? I can't wait to istall mine and try it out. I've also searched online for a Uconnect website, with a list of every command you can give or options, but I have yet to find one. Oh and does the iPod interface come with instructions on what you can do with it? |
