according to MOPAR's accessory site and a member of a different forum, this will be available from MOPAR in the 1st quarter or 2008 and will cost less than $200

Here's some follow up to the system. I said the left button operates radio functions and the right is for the phone. The left button deos some cool stuff and some useless things too. Here's some of the choices.
Will switch between Radio/CD/Sat - not very useful Will switch between Radio AM/FM - not very useful Jump to radio freq ("FREQUENCY Ninety-Five Five") - cool Direct Jump to Sat channel ("CHANNEL One-Fourty-Five") - handy Direct Jump to Disk number ("DISK four") - very handy Direct jump to disk trach number ("TRACK Eighty-six") - very handy You can also select next or previous track/channel which is also not much help either since you have buttons that can do the same thing. So did the dealer charge anything to get it working once you installed it?

As I haven't even got my first jeep yet (althought I was told yesterday it has a shipdate of 12/27!!!!!!!!!!
Will this allow me to use my bluetooth phone if my Jeep has the radio w/ sub-woofer option? I don't have MyGig, Sirius, 6 CD, etc, etc. If so...cool!!!!!!!!!

If anyone tries to install this with the Mygig I'd like to know how it works out. It's much cheaper than the NAV-TV option at $700
Did it enalbe uconnect and the voice command, it sounds from your posts like it did.

Few answers:
You need to have the dealer activate the Uconnect system with Mopar's StarScan unit. Everything in the car is operated via the computer. Radio, headlights, starter, you name it the computer runs it. The dealer did hit me up for $65 (30 min) of shop time. I didn't buy it at the local dealer so I really don't have any barganing power. Plus I didn't know if it would work either. The 07 and 08 JK radios use the hi-speed CAN bus. So, any radio that has the Uconnect buttons on it (RES , REQ) should work, on either year. Don't know about the MyGig unit. If it has the C1 and C2 connectors on the back of it, it probably does not have Uconnect built in and this kit might work....as long as it has control buttons on it somewhere. It could also have Uconnect already built into it and it just needs a mic to make it work. Rich |

Rich, did you decide where you're going to mount the Mic permanently? Your write up inspired me to order the parts and tackle the job myself. So thanks to you I'm now $200 poorer. lol
Edit: Also, is the iPod attachment I see for sale for 40 dollars, will that enable an iPod to function through the headunit itself or is it simply just an over priced Aux input type device? |

Ipod connection....... I was told by Peiker, the Uconnect kit maker, that the 82211004 module was designed to interface with an iPod using another kit/cable not made by them. There wasn't any open ports left on the module so I don't really know haw the iPod ties in to the system.
In playing with the Uconnect voice commands, I didn't find any commands for iPod. However connectors C1 and C2 both pass audio so it's possible that the iPod kit/cable uses Uconnect's mic to receive commands for it's module that speaks 'iPod-eez'. |
