How much are you paying for your "Rubi"?

I am interested in buying a 2010 Rubi.
And I would like to know how much the recent buyers are paying before I visit a dealership so I know what I am up against....

If you bought a Rubi recently or talked to a dealership, can you please let me know?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I recently purchased a 2009 Rubicon Unlimited. I was able to talk them into Employee Pricing, plus the $1500 rebate (the rebate was taken off the EP, not the MSPR). When asked if I was an employee, I simply said, "No, however, I'd still like to purchase the Jeep at Employee Pricing, especially since I'm a United States taxpayer partially responsible for Chrysler's survival..." Not sure if they liked that comment, however, at the end of the day, it's basically true... I held my ground. Not to mention the fact that Chrysler has no plans to repay the money anytime soon... Here's a link to that story:

Chrysler won't repay federal bailout 'loans' - May. 5, 2009

Anyhow, if I were you, I'd start at Employee Pricing, and then have them apply the rebates off the Employee Price (again, NOT off the MSRP). If they refuse Employee Pricing, then go for Supplier/Friends & Family pricing, then apply rebates. They can definitely give you FFP. Employee Pricing is roughly 3-4% under invoice, while Friends & Family is roughly 1-2% under invoice. Also, be sure to review the invoice, in order to validate the EP and FFP.

Back in March of '09, some folks were able to buy way under invoice (even way under EP!), however, supply is a lot lower now, and things are somewhat getting better out there, so it may be difficult to beat Employee Pricing.

Hope this helps...

If you can't get the EP or FFP and you have an American Express card (I really dig their "Blue" card), they have a free "car buying" service that may help out.

Basically, you go to a special website and build the Jeep with the options you want, and then they'll find participating local dealer(s) and show you how much the dealer(s) will sell for.

In my market, there were two participating dealers. One (just a few miles away) wanted invoice + $750. The other dealer (60 miles away) wanted invoice. Showed the "closer" dealer the printout of the other dealers offer (from the website), and he matched it.

The only thing I've had to go on before this was Edumunds.com, and this program was much lower than that. Had no clue you do what mramella did --- that's quite awesome!

Yeah find another dealer and maybe wait until the last couple of days of the month when they are pressed to make quota...

Yeah, I'd move on... You'll find a dealer that's willing to negotiate. Always be prepared to walk away, too.

Also, be sure to only work with the Internet Salesperson. They work on a fixed commission per vehicle sold, so they don't care if they sell it for EP, FFP, etc. They just want to close the deal.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a shot

How did your rubi's sticker went up to 38.4?
Does it have that many options to add on?

So to work with the internet salesperson, where do you start?

I've used Edmunds.com to do this a couple of years back, but I wonder if they would have to pay commission to Edmunds.com which will eat up my savings.

Any recommedations?

Thanks.

2010 Rubicon with automatic transmission and tow package: MSPR $30,620; family & friends + rebate drops it to $27,752; then tax, title etc pushes it up to $30,157. It's left the factory and is taking a scenic train ride to my dealer.

So you didn't have to take one from their lot to get a good deal?

You were able to order one from the factory?
