Mine was built in June. So far 7000 miles without a single issue. Knock on wood.

Great minds think alike, but so do serial killers. Thanks.

Mine was built in September of 2011. I bought it in May 2012. I've put nearly 6000 on it and not a single issue. I took it to my dealership and had them look at it to be sure. They scoped it and said there was nothing to worry about.

I just FINALLY bought a JK (2012 Sport S-pkg) in a good deal from its orig owner. To say the least, I was very nervous about the potential Pentatick issue popping up later on but my engine is quiet. The orig owner did regular maintenance with Mobil-1 after an early oil change and dealer freebie on dino. With a build date of September 2011 and 16,170 miles as of this weekend, no tick whatsoever and no head repair in its warranty history. It doesn't have any rattle on start-up either and my average mpg (urban/suburban mix) is 19.8mpg. I hope this is encouraging info.

Because of my personal beliefs in proper break in procedures. And I don't want some snot nosed minimum wage worker touching any of my jeeps.

Why would a factory trained tech be changing oil for minimum wage?

On a new engine ( I've built many ) I change the oil at 500 mi and have the oil analyzed. If the aluminum or iron ratings are higher than 200 ppm I change the oil again at 1000 mi and have the oil reanalyzed to very the al and fe levels have dropped to a more acceptable range <100 ppm. After I am happy with the results I resume my 3000 mi regular maintenance schedule.

What can I say. I am compulsive and so is my wife (she is the chemist that does the analysis) but I've never had an unexpected major engine failure. And if a reading comes back high/abnormal I keep an eye on it and all documentation is kept on file for worst case scenario. Or I rebuild it if it's out of warranty.

Mine was built on February 8, 2012. Export Model. So far we have driven 11.000 Km and no issues on the engine. If I have, and I really hope not, I will be in trouble with the lack of technical Jeep expertize we have at the local dealers in my area.

Adjust your maintenance schedule to avoid particulate build up? Yeah, let's make fun of the guy who actually uses an informed method to break in his engine. He's out about the cost of an oil change with that testing, and he actually KNOWS the condition of his engine.

Edit: Actually I guess it's a lot cheaper for him since his wife does it. I just send mine to Blackstone, but not every change.
