Purchased Fall of last year, just over 7,000 miles and no issues. Did have the e-brake handle replaced but otherwise all good.

Just out of curiosity, exactly what part is failing? I gather it's in the head, but is it the valve, the cam, or the seat?

The most recent posts I've seen are saying it's a casting problem in one of the valve seats.

I just hit 13k miles yesterday (purchased March 4th), no problems.

For people who have owned jeeps before, this probably won't turn them against the brand. It is a shame about the first-time owners that will be soured by this experience and will never get to find out how great an experience Jeep can be.

I dont know? I traded my 2006 LJ for a 2012 JKUS because I had the dreaded OPDA problem with the 4.0L I6 and it cost me plenty to fix (Well I think it was fixed), (Replaced two computers, O2 sensors a few times, Cat Converter, OPDA modified, Cam and valves, finally rebuilt the whole motor with a 505 Performance 4.7L Stroker kit and it failed the first time at 600 miles, rebuilt a second time (Under Warranty) and traded it before it had 300 miles for a 2012 JKUS now I am hearing a tick in my 2012 that was built in April 2012.

What a disappiontment in Jeep and I have had Jeeps before!

JKU bought in September, 2011, so I can assume it was an "early build".

No problems in 6,000 miles of short trip, daily driver type use. Fill tank, drive, change oil & repeat.

Of course, I'm still waiting for the OPDA to go out on my '06 Rubi also. Keeping my fingers crossed.
