I partially agree with you on your statement. The OP wanted to disable it while he was running around doing chores out on the ranch. He's not wheeling or driving on public roads. He's just putsin' around the ranch taking care of the animals and other things. When on the ranch you can be in and out of the vehicle to around 50 or more times a day not to mention your not moving at a high rate of speed. It's the equivalent of using a tractor, golfcart or ATV.

Wasn't really talking about the OP. This got revived by those who're going to be using the Jeep on the highways and byways. That's when you need a seatbelt the most.

But yeah, for things like tooling around on the beach at 5mph, disabling this feature might come in handy.

Disabling is handy when you install harnesses and use them rather than the factory belt. Just keep in mind airbag deployment requires the belt to be latched - so the other idea of using a dummy latch is good for harness bad (REAL bad) for no belt!

The Jeep wave - it means nothing. Now I look for the RearView wave. Anyone can cause a guy to readjust his rear view at night. But in the daytime when you roll up behind someone and they adjust their mirror to frame your Jeep straighter - THAT'S a compliment!

Thanks for the support guys

I never liked the alarms to begin with. I don't need a continuous 'beep' to tell me I should wear my seatbelt. I'm an adult capable of making my own decisions and know when to wear my seatbelt. I don't need to wear my seatbelt when I whip down to the grocery store or get gas/lotto ticket in my own neighborhood when the trip is under three minutes and I never go over 40kph (30mph)

I know at least one Jeeper who is missing a leg because he overlooked his seatbelt and got into an accident.

His belted passenger suffered only a broken collarbone where the belt crossed over his left shoulder.

Take your pick, YMMV.
You're right. I don't wear mine when I drive over to the laundry area of the RV park we stay in......period. Anyone that doesn't wear one when you are driving at normal speeds is an idiot.....period

I wouldn't stress too much about their safety: if they choose to drive on public roads or at high speeds without a seatbelt then that's on them and their poor mother to cry over.....everyone knows what the law is.
