Hood Insulation?

Recently my Jeep was in a accident (long story...will save that for another time) and the hood had to be replaced.

I have a 2007 Sahara Wrangler Unlimited, and I was thinking that the original hood had some kind of black insulation material attached to the underside of it. The new one has nothing but bare metal, and for some reason Im thinking it doesn't look right. Is that true, or have I just gone mental?

dunno but seems to me you would be better off without insulation to let more heat escape the engin bay

Yes it has a black liner. If you think its too loud then get one ordered but i don't think its a required piece.

Mine doesn't have the black liner, never came with it. I wouldn't want it anyways though. There's already enough heat under the hood, it steams like crazy when I go through puddles!

Iím leaning the other way. To me, the liner would protect your hood from excessive heat, which could start to mess-up the paint on your hood. I had that problem with my í86 CJ-7 and one of my cars. My í08 Rubi has the liner and I like it. I also think that the liner would actually make the engine compartment a little cooler. Of coarse I donít have any facts to back it up though.

Regardless...you are "owed" that liner since your Jeep came with it. The body shop should have replaced it. Chances are that ythey billed your insurance comapny for it so you may as well have them actually order it and put it on.
