What you see is what you get. Daystar, zip ties, remove spring, AEV hood and Drake. I think that’s it. It bugs us all but we actually get used to it somewhat.
:cheers2:
Huh... I've never noticed it except when crossing paths with a semi-truck. It used to be REALLY bad on my YJ, like, to the point where I thought the hold downs were going to break.

Take the spring off of the hood. I did that two years ago after noticing the flutter and it never happened again. Took 5 minutes and it was free.
Woods, www.jeepswag.com, has a nifty little fix as well. I think he sends it free with any purchase. Consists of some square steel and a zip tie. Works like a champ.
I put a skid row front skid plate on after i ripped the plastic POS off during a recovery. With Stock bumpers it is a bolt up mod and with a RR XRD modular it is just two new holes in the stubby. Since putting that on, I have had zero hood bounce, flutter, lift, etc. I think it was $58 and looks way better than the plastic as well as offers far more protection for the swaybar disco motor (if you have it). I have since put a 2" spacer lift on the front end with a 1" on the rear end and was wondering if nosing the rig up in the front would bring back my flutter but it has not. So spend a few pennies, look better, protect better, and get rid of the flutter.
One of the threads on here mentioned that the rubber hold downs on the 2010 JKs are stronger. I believe this, as mine got hit in the fender/hood and when they replaced that hold down, I notice that only the other side flutters now. So, the simple answer appears to be, go to your Jeep parts department and order a set of new hold downs.
I put a small hose clamp on the center latch. Adjusted it til it hooked with just a little push on the hood. It's a two step operation to open the hood but not a problem at all.
I installed this Bushwacker hood protector to hide a big ding and some rock chips and it "accidently" removed my hood flutter and even helped a little bit with the bugs!
I don’t have the Drake hold downs but I can tell you that the cables will not hit your Jeep. That was one of my concerns too and since I’m close to Drakes I was invited to take a look of them mounted on one of their Jeeps. There is absolutely no way the cables will hit.

Before you do anything, check with the dealer. I believe there was a recall for certain Wranglers that had to do with the hood hold downs. Do a search here on the forums and I am sure it will come up.
Read here that the the stock JK front-end is raked down and the aero-dynamics pushes the hood down. If you lift it and get rid of the rake you lose the wind-force pushing the hood down. Mine's a 2010 and can't say I've noticed the issue, maybe they fixed it on mine.
Out of curiosity, why do Jeeps use the two latches to secure the hood?
I had two (on the passenger side, both times) hold downs actually break on my TJ passing semi trucks on a two lane highway about 6 months apart. First time, thought it was a fluke, second time I went to war with Chrysler. They said they had never heard of them breaking. There is no recall and all Jeep will do if it happens is replace them. They refuse to put any locking ones on them, saying they weren't OEM. Let me tell you, at 70 mph when it snapped my hood buckled about 12-18 inches on the passenger side, scare the bejesus out of me and my passenger. Because Chrysler wouldn't do anything I bought the Hood Locks. First thing I did when I got my JK was put on Daystar Hood Wranglers, no flutter whatsoever.
Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have an 08 Unlimited with a 2.5" lift...so the hood flutter has been bugging me! The Daystars look promising. I'll post pictures with my solution....
The Wranglers were originally designed to have the front lower than the back to improve fuel economy. Most lifts don't take this into account, so once it is sitting level the aerodynamics are off and the wind gets up underneath the hood.
So my recommendation is to use the hood flutter as a good excuse to put a winch on the front bumper to lower the front end slightly.

Definitely try taking the hood spring off first. I did this after I removed the POS air dam and I only have flutter in VERY strong winds. The best part is the cost: $0.
So I had hood flutter at ~70-75 MPH for the first time. Albeit I only have 1100 miles.
I stopped to check things,, I don't like it so I will have to do something. Daystar Hood latches seem to be a good fix.
any other suggestions?
Daystar Hood Wranglers all day long. Just got back from 11hrs. on the interstate and had zero hood flutter. They work great!:2thumbsup:
