I made a habit of only keeping my garage door opener locked in my console, only problem is everytime I backed out of my garage I would have to turn off the Jeep, unlock the console close the door and re-lock the console. This got old. I went to Radio Shack and purchased a few momentary closed pushbuttons and LED's. I took apart the two garage door openers and jumpered the actual button that you push and then wired the RS buttons from the ACC controlled wire to the LED's then the garage door opener so they only work with the Jeep on.

Then I wrapped the openers with an old mouse pad and installed under the upper dash panel, on top of the radio.

While I had it opened up, I also added a fake alarm "blinking LED" to the dash panel. I added a relay so it only blinks while the key is off. (Shhhh, don't tell anybody).

As you can see in the first pic, the dash piece has some type of rubberized coating on the plastic that the drill bit tore, so it looks like I'll be buying a new center section to replace it. I might even relocate the buttons and LED's somewhere else.

I figure I've got a grand total of $16 in this mod. No more batteries for the openers-EVER.

Try to remove the dash panel and spray it with Dupli-color spray-on bedliner before you go buying a new one.

Go onto ebay and you can pick up about any shape and size homelike you want. Just add power your are good to go.

I was going to pick one up that will easily flush mount into the plastic above the sun visor.

That's what I did. You have to be careful though...that plastic liner above the visor is thicker than the gap between the body and the cover plate of some Homelink units...
