Hitch Mount Bike Racks/Spare Tire Issues?

Does anyone have any experience w/ 33"/11.5W tires and any clearance/mounting issues w/ a hitch bike rack? I currently have a Thule swing away carrier, and am upgrading the tires/wheels. Not sure if there will be any issues getting the spare on and having it touch or get in the way of the Thule. I'd like to try and keep the Thule on, since I race/train frequently w/ a bike, and I don't want to have to keep taking it on and off, as well as throw my bikes in the back.

Throw the rack up there and add the bikes on after you upgrade the tires. If the bikes rub (or don't fit) get yourself a hitch extender. Google "Hitch Extender" and you'll come up with options that will cure your problem if the tire gets in the way of the rack. Most are under $40.

Agree! My hitch extender works great to allow my bike rack to clear my 35" spare. Just remember that if you use the extender for other applications (i.e. with a cargo carrier), it will reduce your tongue weight allowance some. You will be fine with the bikes though.

Does the extended mount cause issues with rattling or moving around? It would seem that if it is extended out far enough it would become sloppy and move around. I am having the same issue with the stock set up and looking for solutions. The only reason I ask is because I had a TJ before my JK that came with a 1.25" hitch and I bought a extender that also adapted up to a 2" so I could use all of my other hitch parts (trailers and such) and because of the extended lenght it caused rattling and movement.
