Hi-Lift Jack / Booster Cables Questions
So, there I am. . .cruising down the road when out of nowhere, a large board slides off the trailer in front of me. I swerve and fairly easily avoid it. . .I tend to give vehicles hauling stuff some extra room in front of me for just that occassion.
After a few minutes I was thinking. . ."Man, I'd been screwed if I had hit that board and there had been nails in it or something". (At the beginning of the summer I added a 3" lift with 35s.) I did not even consider the fact that the factory jack might not cut it anymore. . .if I had needed to change a tire.
So, my question is. . .for a 2011 JKU with the aforementioned lift and tires would I need to have a larger jack. If yes, would I need a 48" or higher jack? What size?
Also, what gauge jumper cables would you all recommend?
Many thanks in advance.

Factory jack may or may not cut it- the lift has no impact on the jack, because a lift does not raise the axle. But the 35's do raise the axle. But probably not enough to cause an issue with the jack. And if did cause a problem, you would only need an inch (or so) more, which could be achieved simply by putting the jack on a piece of wood or brick, or anything else you can find handy.
Yeah, not the safest thing. But I would take my chances with that over a hi-lift any day.

the stock jack lifts my Jk on 35"s. I pack a 4x6x12" and a few 2x4 just incase. part of my off road stuff. unless you are welding with jumpers about anything will do. If you plane to build a d/c welding kit then you might want to spend $$$ on them.

I'm running 35s on mine and have no problem rotating my tires with the stock jack (other than it's a PITA cranking it). It will lift the axle with plenty of room to get the tires off. A high lift jack shouldn't be used for changing tires unless absolutely have to because of the terrain/situation. They can be unstable when raising a vehicle.

Aev jack base is nice came with lift kit. It is molded for stock jack to fit inside it. Also it fits perfectly under rear floor storage area.
