My boat is probably around 3000# loaded, single axle, no brakes... tows no problems behing my JK 4dr with the tow package... i dont feel that its pushing me around at all... I don't think i'd push the tow capacity too much though. Also would say that having 3.73's really wouldn't make much difference, just that you probably wouldnt be getting out of 4th or maybe 5th gear towing...

Even though the manual is the best point of reference, the little engine can barely take care of a 4 door with an automatic. Yes it tow 3500lbs. You'll do it slowly, heaven help you when you hit a hill.

He must have the 3.21 gears to pull that load with those tires

I have posted this pic in a few other threads but to the fellow curious about 800# in a 4door JKU, it's very doable. I would personally insist on trailer brakes if I were yanking more than 1500 pounds (this is my own experience).

close up.

Trailer brakes & anti-sway controller. Capable of safely pulling a 1100# dual axle trailer and a 2000# car

Let me know when he is out on the road pulling a 23' boat with a JK...I'll stay home. I've been pulling boats since the late 70's and a JK might be able to pull the boat but stopping is another matter-surge brakes or not. That is just too much weight for a JK.

My 2dr sahara didn't like towing a full uhal that was probably 2,000lbs once fully loaded... it did it fine but i dont think i'd go to 3500, and if i did it wouldn't be for a long haul.
