Is it a 4 door or 2 door?

2 door - 1000 lbs *with the oem tow pkg it bumps to 2000
4 door - 3500 lbs

Good towing thread with pics:

(this, and much more, information is all in the owners manual)

cbloyer is right, it isn't an internet debate, it is about hard numbers. depends on your gearing and transmission. Also is a matter of wheelbase (stabilty). I have a rubi with tow package (4.10s) = 2500 lb rating.

I have a 23' boat on a tandem axle trailer. The only time I felt really condifent in towing it was with an Expedition with a 6900 lb tow rating. I now tow it with an H3 with a 4500 lb rating. The good part is the H3 has terrific brakes but the boat still pushes it around, never mind the anemic I-5 engine. I would NEVER tow it with a Wrangler, 2 or 4 door.

The hitch might be rated for 3500, but the 2-door is only rated for 1000.

Granted - you've got a double axle trailer with surge brakes. Slow/Short distances you should be fine, but I wouldn't be planning any long trips. The biggest issue is the towing stability of your short wheelbase.

I would tow 3500# for short trips and with surge brakes. It's not the pulling that would worry me it's stopping and stabilty at anything over 45mph.

I believe the 2-door can be configured to tow 2,000 pounds in some instances, but either way, that is too much trailer...

Why argue with him? Let him thinks what he wishes, tow what he wishes and learn as he wishes...

stock 2 door i think is 1000 lbs. 2 door with tow package says 2000 lbs. and unlimited is 3500.

i wouldnt tow much of anything past a jet ski with a 2 door. 1000lbs is the rating for most fwd coupes and sedans

Wait? You say 1000 lbs for a 2 door but maybe 2000 lbs with a tow package. Dont you have to have a tow package to tow anything? Is there something different besides a hitch that I might need to buy?
