Hi! I bought a 2012 JKU Sahara 3.6L that has 3.21 gears completely stock. It has plenty of getup and go for me. I have already read and gained a wealth of knowledge from the stickys and search. I just want to double check before I order 285/70R17 BFG A/T's on 17x9 Level 8 Strike 5's. If I understand correctly, I should be ordering the wheels with -12mm offset, not 0, right? How much will they stick out from the stock fender flares? Will it fit on the stock spare tire carrier/3rd brake light? No plans for lift any time soon. I may re-gear, I'll see how it behaves after the new shoes. It's my DD and does 80-100 miles/day. I know, I should have gotten a Prius but it's a ***** to take the doors off of them. Thanks for your input!

You stated that you'll drive 24K+ miles a year. I'd stick with stock sized tires & stock sized rims.

The tires and backspacing you are talking about will put mud & grime on the side of your Jeep, cut down on MPG & not really buy you anything (just looks & a little bit of clearance).

It's your decision. But you'll only be putting 1" under your Jeep.
One foot in the grave & one foot on the gas pedal!!

To start 285s will rub the stock fenders front and rear if you flex but will be ok on-road only. As already mentioned you will only gain 1" in overall tire size which= 1/2" ground clearance. No point going 1/2 way go with a lift and 35s or stay stock height with 265s on new wheels for the look so you keep your mileage.
2008 Black and Khaki Sahara Unlimited.
