heat seats installed
I just installed the Mopar heated seat option over the holiday. I got the kit off Ebay for 220.00 plus shipping. Took some time to peel back the seat covers but the wiring was a snap. I used zip ties instead of the metal crimps that came with the kit to reattach the covers, this made the job a lot easier. I also mounted the control right under the power window switches, Looks very factory.

You must have a 2 door. My kit comes in Monday and I'm debating where to put the switch. I've got the Unlimited and the two main options are the little change area in front of the auto shifter (well that's what it gets used for in my Jeep) or on the panel just in front of that. I really wanted to get the net pocket the 09s come with, but this would keep me from doing it. Someone mentioned installing it on the console behind the parking brake, etc which I might do, but I'm still up in the air on where to do it.
All I know is that it's actually starting to feel like winter around here and I'm looking forward to testing out the heated seats. Especially since they'll be warming the custom Katzkins I ordered for Xmas. By the way, how long do they take to warm up abc? I hear it's pretty quick.

I have the two door. The kit had plenty of wire so you can get pretty creative on the switch placement. Be careful when you peel off the backing on the heat pads, they are pretty sticky. I had my wife help me, a second set of hands was needed to hold up the seat cover while you stick the pad on the seat. I used a Dremal to make the hole in the dash for the switch, it too is very sticky, make sure you know where you want it before you peel the backing off. Takes about two minuntes to get thru a winter coat and then you feel like you can take the top down! Works great! One other hint, I needed a breaker bar to remove the seats from the jeep. The guy at the factory must have ate his Wheaties that day

There's also a pretty slick looking lumbar kit from Rostra Precision Controlls. I'm thinking about installg this with the heated seats.

I should have a fairly easy time with the heated seat install since I have to completely take apart the seats to install the Katzkins.
As far as the dremel goes, my mom always had one for little projects she worked on and I never really saw it as something I'd ever use, but since getting a Jeep I had to borrow hers and eventually ended up getting myself a cordless one. They really come in handy for a lot of Jeep related projects.

I don't know if abc took pics of his install, but Monday I'm heading to the upholstery shop to see if they can do the headrests for me. Once I know they can do them (pretty sure they have to have a special vacuum machine to suck the air out of the foam. I don't see how else it's possible considering the size of the headrest and the relatively small opening in the cover), I'll pull my seats and start taking pics. Looks like a one afternoon job to do the Katzkins and after reading a few writeups, the heated seat kit should be a breeze, with the seat covers completely removed.
Edit: I'm not sure about about abc but I got my Mopar Heated Seat kit from jparts.com for $238 including shipping and their stuff usually gets to my door almost next day if it's in stock, because they're in PA and I'm in MD. It was the best price I found. Ebay had some for close to the same, but since I've bought from jparts before I knew I could count on them to ship quickly and reliably.

abc, you might not have enough posts yet to imbed a pic. Throw up a link and one of us can imbed it for you with a quote.

Could you guys tell me if the switch is an electronic type, or a definite on and off. I have an aftermarket remote starter and would like to set it to go on when the jeep starts.

Electronic, low ,med, and high so they do not come on till you push the button,. They are pretty fast heating so not sure you will notice.

Installed the Mopar seat covers in my Wifes JK a little over a year ago for Christmas and just started to have problems with them. I would push the button to turn it on and nothing would happen then drive a little bit and they would work. They then would turn off while driving. I tore the dash back apart to find out what is wrong and found all four of the plugs that go into the brain box had cheap pins that were loose fitting. I was able to wiggle the plugs and get the unit to fail. To fix it I took a pick and squeezed the female pins together so it made good contact on the male pins. No more cold Wife!
