Half doors and full doors?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a search function on these forums. Anyway, my question relates to buying a jeep and doors. I have been using the online Jeep configurator, but haven't been able to figure out if I can order half and full metal doors. It would be nice to be able to switch between the two, such as full metal doors during the work week, and throw on the half doors for a long weekend. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if yes, what the cost would be?

I don't think you can get both. You would have to buy the other set from the dealership at full cost... this could be around $1000. They come primered, and then you have to paint them, get the locks keyed...and possibly piece together the whole door (interior trim, etc).

This was actually discussed at Camp Jeep. The engineers had no answer other than they have no way of delivering the Jeep with the other set of doors inside the Jeep, along with the soft top.

Would be nice to see DC offering dual door option (as in dual top). If you had to order new one from DC, it would cost around $1500 (at least that's what brandnew 06 half doors cost).

Talk to your dealer. I am pretty sure they can order you some half doors like that.

Oh forget that. Are you going with an 07 or are you considering an 06? The reason I ask is if you are looking at an 06 you can pick up some half doors or even some fabric doors fairly cheap. There is no aftermarket really yet for the 07. Not yet.

It's simply useless to argue on the interwebs. It's akin to arguing with a toddler. Doing so only makes you look silly and they always poop their pants.

Hmm, $1500 is more than I would like to spend anyways. I'm definitely getting an 07, but I'm sure the aftermarket items will come soon enough. I guess I will have to make a decision quite soon on whether I want full or half doors. The fabric route sounds rather appealing, not to mention that they are probably a lot easier to install.

You also have to consider other aspects too. The way a full door fits into the frame is different from a half door. I would say go with the full door, and then go with the half door later. IMO.

The fabric doors are great! My '05 TJ came with full metal doors but in the warmer months I use my Bestop fabric doors. They are easy to take on and off and great for trips and wheeling. I'm sure Bestop will be coming out with a fabric door for the '07-up soon.

The full doors are nice to have for the winter.

Cost is more like $2000 for 2, tried to get both when I got my jeep, they sell them by individual piece, not assembled, plus paint. Wonder what the window will be if you get the Hard top and half doors?

This whole deal kinda pisses me off. I had to go through the hoops to get half doors for my 05LJ. $300 for paint to match. $200 for the correct color inner door panels. Yada,yada...

Now Ill have to start from scratch x4
And on top of that you cant get a khaki top on a rubicon

Who makes these decisions?

Add, locks, paint and shipping, going to be around $2000, says need to add hinges, not sure about that. Don't forget you need the windows, $250 a pair. Kind of nuts $4k for half doors. I feel lucky getting mne for $700 and the right color off ebay.

It'd be cool if they came with a factory half door option that had hard upper doors painted to match. Best of both worlds.

That's true. If it looked halfway decent, I'm sure ALOT of people would go for that. I'm just wondering if it would be possible though, as they would have limited space for hinging the top half
