Increase air pressure to 33# and drive slower.

Normally 28# when hitting trails.

Keep it 65 or less. Fuel consumption is substantially worse above 65 mph. That is if I am thinking about it. Most of the time, I am thinking I am driving a Jeep and having fun, with fuel consumption the furthest thing from my mind.

your not getting the worst gas mileage in the world. 15-19 is pretty good. most pickups only get like 13-17. so yeah when its my day off, i dont give a crap about anything negative. live it large.

20.5 in the city? Really? You must have the most fuel efficient JK on the streets b/c thats unheard of. I also drive like a senior citizen on Sunday with my 32's and still only get about 15 in the city.

Please remember the digital mpg gauge is not accurate, so 20.5 around the city sounds like a number from the dash

Yea that's from the dash I didn't actually do the math because I prefer my ignorance to the facts when it come to fuel efficiency

I drive my VW Diesel for a daily driver, so when I'm in my JK I don't care what I am getting for mileage. Maybe you should look into a small car for a daily driver.

I can pull 20.5 combined 20% city 80% highway, hand calculated. I drive like Miss Daisy in town, 6 spd manual, keep the rpms below 2k and pretend I have an egg between my foot and the pedal, very frustrating for those around me no doubt.. On the highway, I keep speed at 65, never anymore than that. Go 70 or get a head wind and I get 18.5 hand calculated. I have run 70 on the highway and into 30mph headwinds and I have gotten 14 hand calculated. My ranches are an hour south and east of where I live so I get lots of road time to test conditions. Keep your tires aired up, keep the extra crap (weight) out of your vehicle, and drive slower is the best you can do driving a brick.

I have not hand calculated my MPG yet because my mileage counts slow because of my 33's. Now, I wonder if I'm actually getting better than the indicated MPG on the dash because I am covering more distance than the computer thinks?

My odo reads low because of oversize tires. There is a calculator somewhere on the net that I used to figure the percentage to add to the indicated mileage to get your true mileage. My percentage is 4.97% and the vehicle calculator reads pretty close to what I actually get when hand calculated. It is NEVER the same though. Sometimes a little higher and sometimes a little lower but never the same. It does seem to be closer than it was before the tire change.

+1

The dash gauge is all over the place. Even my estimated distance to empty number is wildly inaccurate. If you want to see real data, head on over to Fuelly. You can browse everyone's vehicles.
