Folding down the soft Top. Is this Right?

I got it down but I had to force the Velcro through the slot.

Do you leave the strap there afterwards?
Or do you need it if you want the soft sunroof?

I only used the strap for sunrider. I never strapped the top when it was all the way down. Don't know if I'm doing it wrong but I never had a problem with the top down and not strapping it.

That's the way I do it. When I have the top up I just take the velcro straps and put them in the glove box.

I removed the Nut Insert, then it's much easier to put the strap thru the slot.

For what it's worth, I've never used the straps. I've had the top down on the turnpike doing 75 with no problems. I know the manual says to do it, but the top is pretty snug when it's down.

Grant,

Thank you so much for this site! I have been desperately looking all over the net trying to find a decent guide.

I have been putting my soft top down but the rails don't lay flat with the JK chassis they stick up and run along with the roll bar in the back.

Now I know how to do it right.

I also took out the Nut Inserts. I think it looks cleaner and it is way easier to use the straps. I just throw the straps in the glove box when the top is up; two velcro straps are pretty cheap insurance.
