Sorry to revive an old thread but I guess it's better than starting a new one. I also wanted to mount a flag last summer and did, but it was a weak aluminum pole that was done after one night, the 4th of July of course. I've been looking around at other wall mount flag poles but not sure how they would hold up.
What did y'all wind up doing besides the CB antenna idea?(don't have a CB and even when I get one don't think I'd do that lol)
I have 2 flags that I fly, both 3'x5'. What I did was take 2 sections of galvanized pipe (about 4 or 5 foot in length), drill holes, and put eye-brackets in the holes. Then I attach the flags with clasps, and then attach the poles to the jeep roll bar using zip ties. its quick to put on, quick to take off.
I have been on the highway with my flag many times, including today. My work is 24 miles from my house and I've commuted to and fro with it for months. This is a fiberglass pole specially designed for flags. I got it at the flag pole store in Pismo Beach, CA. However, I took it down after today's trip to work. I had a light weight flag (same size) before and that tore on the outer edge. So I put a new heavy duty embroidered nylon flag today and it seemed to bend the pole quite a bit and I was afraid it may finally break the darn pole, so I took it down. Anyone know where I can get a heavier pole with a kit to attach it on a JK?
