Flag pole

Who here has mounted a flag pole or flag pole blacket to their rig? I'm considering mounting one this summer.

mattman, that's what I'm going to do if mounting a bracket isn't practical. I'd actually like to mount something strong enough to handle a 3'x5' though.

wow thats a big flag.

mine was only 12"x8"

you are going to need to find a high quality flag though. Mine ripped to pieces after less than a week of driving.

I still need to find another pirate flag that is 12x8.

you know where to get good flags?

Yeh, that's the plan- to mount a 3x5 jolly rodger and let it get ripped to pieces.

I'll get back to you on the quality flags thing, I actually know someone at work that can help you out with that, so stand by a few hours.

Highway driving? Even a good vinyl flag will shred with wind whip at high speeds after about a month.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I guess it's better than starting a new one. I also wanted to mount a flag last summer and did, but it was a weak aluminum pole that was done after one night, the 4th of July of course. I've been looking around at other wall mount flag poles but not sure how they would hold up.

What did y'all wind up doing besides the CB antenna idea?(don't have a CB and even when I get one don't think I'd do that lol)

I'm reviving this... had it on my cb antenna forever with a strong string tying it to the cage... I want something better now... Thinking about modding the bumper to weld a pole to fly it on...

I have 2 flags that I fly, both 3'x5'. What I did was take 2 sections of galvanized pipe (about 4 or 5 foot in length), drill holes, and put eye-brackets in the holes. Then I attach the flags with clasps, and then attach the poles to the jeep roll bar using zip ties. its quick to put on, quick to take off.

I have been on the highway with my flag many times, including today. My work is 24 miles from my house and I've commuted to and fro with it for months. This is a fiberglass pole specially designed for flags. I got it at the flag pole store in Pismo Beach, CA. However, I took it down after today's trip to work. I had a light weight flag (same size) before and that tore on the outer edge. So I put a new heavy duty embroidered nylon flag today and it seemed to bend the pole quite a bit and I was afraid it may finally break the darn pole, so I took it down. Anyone know where I can get a heavier pole with a kit to attach it on a JK?
