First oil change

My change oil notification came on at 3500 miles. Should I go ahead and change it?

Do it. If you do it yourself, make sure you get some quality oil with a good filter.

Yes - check with your dealer to see if they have a prepaid package - I got 12 for 150.00. That's less than I can buy the filter for...

Is 10K the normal interval? Or is that when using full synth? I saw 3500 for the first change in the user's manual, but didn't really see an interval after that.

10k is for the mobil1 extended synthetic and you have to get the filter that's is good for the same amount. Otherwise yeah 3-4k changes

There is no reason to waste your money at 3-4k oil changes. Modern engines and unleaded gas paved the way to longer change intervals, even with dino oil.

So if I pre-pay 150 for 12 changes/3 years (12.50 per change) - and only drive 10,000 per year but use all 4 at 2500 miles each I am wasting my money?

Good point so I will only do 2 changes per year at 49.95 each for a three year cost of - 299.70. (or do it myself at 23.79 for the oil and 7.00 for the filter for 30.00 per change - or 180 per year - plus my TIME which is now worth negative 30.00 under this plan) That way I am not wasting my money even though I am spending more. Are you by any chance a Democratic President?

And we all know that NO TRAIL DUST, ROAD DUST OR ATMOSPHERIC\ACIDIC MOISTURE EVER EVER GETS IN THE CRANKCASE AS THE TEMP CHANGES AND DRAWS OR EXPELS AIR VOLUME.

Yeah, I know. Old habits die hard. I've religiously changed my 06 Ram 1500 Hemi, using dino, at every 3-4 k. It still comes out as clean as it goes in, after six years. Throwing money away, I know, but I don't put a lot of miles on it. Only about 8k a year, so really one or two oil changes a year, done by me, is not much of an expense.
