I would I think. What are the costs. I know the zoo admission and the price of a camping spot but what else? Can the safari trip be made in your own vehicle?

The safari trip HAS been made in personal vehicles, but it spooked the animals I guess. There is potential for that happening again, depending upon what the Zoo says. As of now, the answer is no.

The safari ride was $25 for the participants in the rover ride, or $30 for non participants, iirc. It's $100-150 to go with a small group in a pickup truck, instead of a larger group in an open bus. the camping spot is technically free, but the overall event price for the rovers was $95 per vehicle. This included catered dinner at the wilds...I could just as soon skimp on that Fluff to bring the cost down.

No details have been put together, this all speculation based on my experience with the rover group. This thread and some side conversations has been enough to tell me that it would be worth putting together. I'll get with the current organizers of the rover group, and see what I can hash out.

It sounds like a lot of fun but I am just a wee bit too far away for it to be a weekend type event for me and the family.

I would be very interested. Even if it is in Ohio.

About a 3 hour drive from Pittsburgh, if it's a weekend thing I would like to come. It's in Columbus right?

I am very interested. I am in Cincinnati and have a 4 year old that is obsessed with offroading and the zoo so this is a perfect combination!

I would kill to go to an event like this, or any jeep event for that matter. Its just too far from me because I live in Alaska & would have to cross a lot of Alaska & through Canada just to get to the lower 48. We have small events here, but I usually find out about them after they've happened.

Sounds like a good time. If you shoot for a date close to Memorial or July 4th weekend, the zoo offers discounted ticket prices. For military. Thank goodness you said Columbus Zoo and not Cincinnati Zoo. I'm sure most people wouldn't want to drive around, Over the Rhine! Lol
