EZ Pass tech (Pics)

So I know many of you have "EZ Passes" for your local toll roads. I HATE the things. The windshield mount bugs me. The bumper mount is better, but I would still rather not see it.

I mounted it to the backside of my winch on my TJ.

Worked great, even under the cover.

I had it mounted to the license plate on the JK until I got a new bumper.

You can see it here on the top of the plate.

Here is the new bumper and the EZ pass. Cool bumper, ugly pass.

Pop the 6 little push tabs out that hold the grill on.

This is literally a 3 min job.

See the 2 center zip ties? Those are holding the EX pass securely to the back of the lower radiator support. If I had black zip ties it would hide even better.

DONE! Took more time to take the pics.

Good thinking. What is that pass thing for anyway? Is like a pre-paid electronic thing.

Wow! Your EZ Tags are HUGE! In Houston ours are about 2"x2" and mounth behind the rearview mirror. They are about as thin as heavy bond paper.

You can see it in the middle of the windshield here:

It basically bills a credit/debit card directly when you pass through the toll booth on the toll roads or HOV lanes.

We have a choice of the little white square things too. I just HATE ANYTHING on my windshield.

At least in IL, they use license plate recognition and the RFID chip in the transponder equally. Thus, as long as your plate is registered to your account you don't need the transponder. I don't even know where mine is.

I velcro'd mine to the top side of the passenger visor.

I had it in the window. Painted it black with fusion plastic paint, was white.

Still didn't like it so I moved it to the visor.
