End Caps for Front Bumper MOD
I would like to shorten the front bumper, like you can with the TJ. But I can't find any end caps. Any one know how I can get some end caps after I cut off the ends to the front bumper. I'm no good at making them as shown in the Mod section.

cut the ends of the bumper off. Cut the plastic off the back of the end caps and slide them inside the bumper body to give a stock (but short) look. I will see if I can find pictures of when I did it.

That looks like a great job. Do you remember how far you cut them off?

The best I can tell you is that when you take the whole bumper off the Jeep and turn it over you will see 2 bolts on each side that hold the metal bumper to the plastic cover. I cut if off a little after the bolts so I could keep them as an anchor point.
The bumper cover is hollow so once you cut off end caps, cut the back off them and notch them for the bolts they slide right in. |

If I remember correctly...he cut smaller pieces of the left over plastic and used a soldering gun to melt and fill the seems. Then sanded the edges to the finish you see.
He did an Awesome Job! |

Thanks for the compliments!
You are correct- once you get it cut to the proper shape, you just heat it and fold it back. I used a regular soldering iron to weld/melt the seams back together. I cut some of the left over plastic into thin strips and used it to fill in and smooth out the seams. I used bumper repair epoxy from Advance Auto on the inside/back of the seams for more strength. It has held up well so far. |
