electronic stability control lights on the dashboard

Hi jeepers! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? When driving on a road at 65 MPH and a tractor trailer/semi coming in the opposite direction goes past me my electronic stability control light on my dash board comes on. This has happened twice and once my cruise control turned off and did not re-engage till I was able to shut my 2013 wrangler sport unlimited off and then start it up again!

Hi kenpogolf,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

Andrea,

thanks for getting back to me.
As it d
has only occurred twice and each time it corrected itself once I had stopped, turned the engine off, and restarted the engine. I did not think it warranted going to the dealership as it would not easily be reproduced. To avoid the issue I make sure that I am as far over to the other side of the road as I can be when an approaching semi/tractor trailer is approaching me.
If it should occur again and especially if it remains I will contact my local jeep dealership to address the problem.

As you were the only person to contact me regarding this, I am under the assumption that no one else has encountered this.

I have. But its not common. The air blast from a semi can make the vehicle sway enough to engage stability, which in extreme engagement can ding and light (minor engagement merely adds braking to counter the mis-track) I've also had cruise disengage from trailer sway engaging stability. When an out of parameter cuts cruise off, it can take several (I've seen as long as half hour) minutes for cruise to be available unless you cycle the ign switch. If steering is slightly off center, it can be close enough most of the time - but sensitive more to one side and thus easier to trigger stability in one direction than the other. Stability is engaged when when the gyroscopic pitch yaw sensor detects a track significantly different than wheel speeds and steering wheel position indicate.
