Easy Switched Power Source

If your TIPM (fuse box) is set up like my 2008 is....

Here is a way to get switched power from the fuse box. It's easier than installing wires in the connector under the TIPM, although not quite as clean an install.

The fuse tap came from Advance Auto, Buss catalog # BP/HHH. It is rated for 10 amps, so that will be the max fuse you should put in it.
For use as outlined, only the top fuse position can be used, as the bottom fuse would send power to an empty wire socket in TIPM connector C6.

Wonder if I can change the wiring for the stereo using this info - I'll play MP3's with the key in the ACC position, then when I go to start the Jeep, the damn stereo switches back to the radio while the USB port re-boots. What a PITA!

questions...why is the Tap in different positions in pics 3 and 4? in #3, the tap wire is running towards the outside of the box, where in #4, its running towards the interior of the box

That's explained in the picture narratives. 3 is in a slot that is hot in RUN only. 4 is in a slot that is hot in accessory and run.
They have to face different ways to have clearance for the red wire.

He is just showing you 2 different places to tap:

#3 will be hot when the key is in the RUN position

#4 will be hot when the key is in ACC or RUN position.

EDIT: Doh! RONJENX beat me to it.

Find out the relay coil draw, and go from there. The setup shown is rated at 10 amps.
