Do I need adjustable control arms?

Hey gang,

I ordered track bar relocation brackets/braces from Australia (RHD Jeep).
They come with all the hardware, high steering kit, etc.

Does anyone know if I need to get adjustable control arms to make this work?

'07 Sahara 2-door w/3.5" Skyjacker suspension lift, 35" BFG MTs.

The track bar would have little to nothing to do with control arms, however, the 3.5 inch lift is enough to increase your caster angle to the point of needing adjustment IMO. Hence, you can use adj uppers to slightly lengthen the CA or adj lowers to slightly shorten the CA. This is because the upper CA has a shorter length (arc radius) and lifting forces the top of the axle and Cs to the rear....Hope this helps you.

So I should go with uppers? Which ones do you recommend. They seem a bit pricey, but I don't want to get junky ones either.

In addition to adjustable control arms, you also can use the AEV control arm drop brackets. These brackets remount your stock arms at different angles.

IMO,

PROS:
cheaper than control arms (US$99 vs US$300+)
addresses camber issue ("flightly" feel) caused by bigger lifts
increases anti-dive, which helps with braking performance
helps ride-quality by directing more of the force from impacts (bumps, etc) into shocks vs. the frame

CONS:
leaves your front control arms mounted about an inch lower than the stock position
designed for 3.5"/4.5" lifts, not adjustable if you decide to run a lift that's bigger/smaller

There's some more detailed info over at http://jeepin.com/news/aev_brkts

Going back to your orig question, unless you're having an issue with your JK feeling "flighty" at higher-speeds, I wouldn't say that new control arms are absolutely required?

I don't know about others experience, but there is no way I would use the drop brackets...as is, my lower brackets get beat up enough where they are at...lowering them is asking for problems IMNSHO when rock climbing...

Unfortunately, my JK's 95% on-road, and the rock crawling around here is medium-hard at its worst. I think I'm the ideal use case for control arm drop brackets. I'd def reconsider them if I was seriously into crawling, but after a summer of VA/NC/PA wheeling, they've not posed any issues.
