Differences between 07-10 rubicons?

Does anybody know if there are differences between the different year JK Rubicons? I'm thinking of getting an 07 (lift, winch, etc), but wanted to know if the later years have any major benefits. thanks.

Not sure on rubicon specific models, but in general the early jk's had numerous top leaks as my 08' X did. My 09' sahara is dry!

no leaks on my '08 Unlimited Rubi yet (almost 19,000 km's)
One change in '09 & '10 is the addition of a rear tow hook on the drivers side. Previous years were hookless if you got the towing package.

There were also changes to the way the soft top set's up as well, in the 09-10's compared to the 07-8's iirc - along with some minor cosmetic changes (little net pocket at the bottom of the center console)

My 07 hasn't had any leaks with the Freedom hard top. I had some leaks with the soft top, but they weren't that hard to fix.

The primary benefit of the 07 is that it does not come with TPMS (tire pressure monitoring sensors). They are an expensive waste of money and an annoyance for anyone who runs aftermarket wheels or larger tires at lower pressures both on and offroad. Guys with 08s+ can adjust the settings with an AEV ProCal or Superchips Flashpaq. So, it is fixable.

The newer models have a hill start assist feature that holds the brake for you.

Other than that, there may be a few different colors in later years.

I had a leak on the Freedom to till I figured out that there are fastners that go just above the sound bar to secure the top. I thought they all leaked till I got this taken care of and since it has not leaked a drop.

I have a 07 and the Freedom top leaked till I figured out it needed fastners just above the sound bar. Once I fixed that it has not leaked a drop. The soft top, well that is a different story.

thanks guys. So its possible to adjust the TPMS on the 08+ with a tuner? Can the 07s be tuned? I know that tuning is near pointless on these things, but i am a tuner and i love to play around with my tuner tools. What year did the brake assist come out? My wife would love that because she freaks out on hills (not a good stick driver).

If you can find a new '09, it should have the lifetime powertrain warranty.

The '10s have a soft-top that's supposed to be easier to put up/down.

All years can be tuned. The best tuner is the Superchips Flashpaq. The best place is at Northridge4x4.com for $309 shipped--and he is running a 7% off sale right now.

All years, you can start in gear when in 4lo without using the clutch.

You can deprogram the TPMS with either Superchips or AEV ProCal--but the ProCal does no tuning.

Don't know what year brake/hill assist came out. You just need to show your wife how to use the emergency brake when starting on a hill with a stick.
