Here in Europe JK is being equipped with 2.8 VM diesel (known from liberty). Some say that it's better for JK because of torque. but opinion about VM is not good...

Hello:

Any news regarding the new Pentastar engine either? I have been lurking here for a while hoping to get news on the new engines too. I actually test drove a 6sp manual Rubi last weekend, and even though I really liked it, it would be nice to have a little more power.

I currently own a 2002 Pathfinder. It is amazing what 40 more hp can do. Both the Rubi and the '02 Pathfinder weight about the same.

Thanks,
AC

Would be easier to imort acivilian european one. The good thing is, that u wouldn't have any trouble with sevice, cuz it's libby's engine. the worse thing is that they are much more expensive here.

District manager is calling in a favor for me to see if this is a go or no go. He said they are doing things different now a they wont release anything prior to 60 days out. Like they did on the HEMI challengers

I guess it will be about June befre we know what they have done to the 2011 models, since production is scheduled to start in August. Supposedly there are major revisions to the interior, but so far they have been coy about the drivetrain. The Wrangler will eventually see the Pentastar, but not clear yet if that will be 2011 or 2012.

I was thinking of waiting for the 2011 model line to see what was what, but decided to buy a used 2008 instead. My rationale was that I find the power to be more than adequate with the 3.73 gears, and I am not that anxious o be the owner of the first model year of a new engine anyway. The 3.8 is an old-tech pig, but it works and has an established history of reliability.

I guess I would do a "doh!" if the 2011 had a fold-flat front passenger seat as in the Patriot, and or a sliding / reclining rear bench - both would be major improvements.

I gave up a long time ago hoping for a diesel for North America. Not going to happen anytime soon - maybe never. They really are that stupid.
