Hey All, I've gotten so much good info on this site, I wanted to give some back. I installed a Daystar lower dash panel with a daystar toggle switch for my Rigid Industries flood lites mounted on the A pillars and wanted to share the procedure.
Step 1 You need to pop up the top part of the console to remove the OE mesh plastic panel. You simply grab it from the sides ( near the front edges ) and lift up, it simply un-snaps.
Step 2 using a thin flat blade screwdriver or clip retaining tool insert it at one of the edges of the panel and gently pry out. There are 4 tabs with small orange clips around the tabs. You can now pull up on the panel and it comes out. You can see the 2 clips at the bottom of the panel which just sit in the fastening hole.
Step 3 Gently pry 2 of the OE orange clips from the tab, as you will need to install these on the Daystar tabs.
Step 4 After installing your switches in the panel, insert the bottom tabs of the Daystar panel back in their mounting holes. It may not slip in as easily as the OE tabs, so using a rubber mallet, tap down at the corners ( NOT HARD as to crack it ) and it will go in place. ( mine was tight and had to be tapped in place ) The upper tabs will now line up, which you just push in place.
Step 5 Re-snap the console top back in place.( Because the panel is a little thicker than the OE one, I had to use little force to get the clips to stay in place, as it initally popped out. ) The wodden handle of a hammer did the trick.
Here's a pic of it installed. Hope this helps anyone looking to install it.
