Dash display ?

I was fishin' to day and had the sun behind me when I left . Above the odometer and below cruise in the sun shine I could see "OFF ROAD" on the display . Does anybody know what this is ? Was it for a future factory adjustable engine tune ? I've never noticed it before ......now I'm curious as to what it's doing hidden in there .... unseen .

It may be a light that comes on when the 2 wheel drive JK's accidently gets on dirt... It lets them know that they are no longer on the pavement

Seriously though... I would like to know also.

There was a topic on this in 08, I think it was decided that it never came on and is just "there".
Unless they changed it on the newer years as far as I know it does nothing....

I think that our instrument cluster was used in the Liberty or another model that has full time 4wd. With that system they have an off-road setting that does something along the lines of activating a locker in the transfer case.
At least thats what I heard
