"24R CUSTOMER PREFERRED ORDER SELECTION PKG (24R) -inc: 3.6L V6 engine, 5-speed auto trans w/3.73 axle ratio"

That's what I found online anyway so maybe someone else can verify. Seems weird that a "preferred package" only includes that.

Dammit, Roll and Bishop beat me to the post. I guess 3 answers are better than none!
Also it seems to auto-select the 3.73 gear ratio if you chose that package. I thought all Rubis came with the 4.10 gears?

24 is the starting point for the powertrain configuration - ie the one I just made an offer on is 24B - 3.6, 5spd, choice of gears - on this one another code (dme) appends to get me 3.73s... 24R (3.6, 5spd auto) no appending needed on a Rubicon24R as Rubicon only comes with 4.10 anyway...

A standard trans would use the 23 series packages...

Rubi w\ auto trans comes with 3.73 as standrt, 4.1 is an option.
I hope the 24R doesn't mean 3.73.
Where can I find details about this code?

Not sure about where to find ALL the details... usually takes a build sheet (the dealer can provide - but he would be bending the rules a bit...) or window sticker to tell exactly what you have.
In the Rubicon package 4.10 is standard for 24R (the Rubicon order overwrites the gear) - 3.73 becomes the option when appending with code (DME) - you probably won't find 3.73 in many dealer equipped\ordered vehicles...

By definition a Rubicon has lockers.

Sounds like some overthinking is going on.

Wrangler Rubicon or Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
23R - 6 speed manual transmission - the 4.1 rear axle ratio is standard
24R - 5 speed automatic transmission - the 3.73 rear axle ratio is standard (you have the option of the 4.1)

The Rubicon comes standard with Tru-LokŪ Elect Locking Front/Rear Differentials
These electronic-locking front and rear differentials balance speed between left and right wheels maintaining forward momentum for the ultimate in Wrangler traction. The instrument panel-mounted rocker switch can lock the rear, the front, or both axles.

Intersting - dealer just confirmed if you order a Rubi - you are getting 4.1 unless you specify 3.73. Never new you had to specify standard... but then this IS Chrysler we are dealing with.

Interesting, indeed - I'm looking at the most recent code guide - dated 1/24/12.
I believe the change was due to the new engine/transmission that came out for the 2012 model.
