You should check the premium difference for dropping down the comp deductible to $100. If you pay cash most companies will install a windshield for a couple hundred.

just got hit again about an hour ago....
I have noticed the 2013 glass breaks real easy

all my other Jeeps
1986 - 1988 - 1992- 2003- 2008 had tougher glass
they could take a hit and not crack !!

I called AAA and I have an appointment with Safelite AutoGlass
they will install an OEM replacement on Monday @ their shop
( I choose to go to the shop vs having mobile install )
the zero deductible glass replacement is pay`n off

Is the Safelite just regular ol' glass, or is it stronger?

The newer windshields ('11+) are actually thinner than the '07-'10 models, so they're more prone to cracking. My '07 took more rocks to the face than Whitney Houston and never split. I've already gone through three windshields on my '12 in the past 12 months.
Jesus! "more rocks to the face than Whitney Houston!" Classic

Safelite actually offers two options the OE shield and an aftermarket shield that is exactly the same minus the stickers (jeep grille sticker and outline).

I've owned nothing but Jeeps, this is my eighth, I've never broken a windshield before, and I've replaced three on my '13 since Feb....I do not believe it is coincidence.

I got the Safelite OEM with grill. My first claim with GIECO and I thought I was going to have to pay $50. That copay got waived. So, with GEICO my 1st replacement was free. I like that.

safelite offers 2 types of glass I don`t want the cheaper version ...

I have asked for the Factory OEM glass ( that`s what they used in April)

it will be installed late Monday afternoon.

I know others with the 2013 and there seems to be a pattern of rock chips breaking the glass ... seriously doubt Jeep will admit it.

Mine is the one with the grille. It looks thicker.

At least u guys got hit, I was at a parking lot in Washington cranked up the heater and defrost and POW PING POOF window cracked. Returned to installer and said if no chip is present the window is replaced free. But when I showed up he pulls out a magnifying glass and I was wtf are u doing. Looking for chips? Oh Hellman of course you'll see some pits . So he offered after a while to change it for 100 flat. But I had that 3m uv film + 200 so 300 total if I do it again

The information came from Safelite which, as others have said, are awesome. They offer both the logo'd and non-logo'd versions of the windshield for replacement, from Mopar, and according to them the logo'd versions are thinner and lighter. What's lame is the how the "easter eggs" practically double the price. It makes no difference to me being covered under insurance, but that cost increase in general is just BS.

The only reason why the discussion had come up is because you can actually choose the older non-logo'd windshield for replacement, if you want. And, for the same reasons as I mentioned in my previous post, they replace more of these newer windshields than they do the old ones.

I don't know how part numbers work when they're redesigned and the dude totally could've been full of ****, but again, given the fact I've gone through three '12 windshields already, but never had to replace my '07 that took an absolute beating, it makes sense.
