Coloured Mesh Grill Mod

Hey everyone, very sorry to bring up such a common topic again, but I just can't find the information I am looking for.

I am planning on putting some mesh behind my grill, but I would like it to be red to stand out against the Commando. I know someone recently did this(on a white Jeep), but I can't find the thread and will ask if anyone has similar experience. Any knowledge of where to find coloured mesh, or if the regular black stuff can be painted would be greatly appreciated!

I had originally installed bare aluminum gutter mesh and then we decided on a color, so I painted it with Rustolium.

I'm about to do the same thing. I just think you need to be sure to get a metal mesh and it will hold the paint much better. Most paints won't flex well with a soft plastic gutter guard. Red on green though? Can't eat to see it. I'm going white on my deep sea blue.

Thanks guys! That's exactly what I was looking for Filthy-Beast! And I've always liked how the red Rubi shocks look on this colour, so I figured I'd give it a shot!

Go for it, easy & relatively cheap enough to change if you don't like it. Remember to come back and post some pics.

I used zip ties and zip tie mounting blocks from the electrical section of HD. I pealed the double sided tape off, this was the hardest part of the job. First time I used gel super glue, some of them popped loose. 2nd time I sanded back of mounting blocks and back of grill with 80 grit and then used two part epoxy. 6 per section of gutter guard.

Alrighty everyone! The suspense is finally over!

Lots of fun little Zip tie mounts:

The look all secured to the grille (with 56 little ties!! ):

And how it looks on the Jeep!!

Now that it's on there, not entirely sure of the red...let me know what you think everyone! I may be starting a poll on the colour of this!

I like the red on green. Only problem is you do have enough red yet! I had the same trouble with my white on deep blue. I started with hinges, windshield a pillar cover's on both sides. And the mesh grill mod. The more of the accent color ya add the better it looks. Now I can't stop thinking of how else to add white to my rig.

Can't wait to see it when it's all done up.

Thanks a lot! I think you're right about needing more of it. I'm thinking of going after the tow hooks as well. Got a picture of yours? That sounds like a good combo

Wanted to let you know about a metal mesh I found in NE Florida when applying this mod to my '14 JKU. It is a gutter mesh I bought from Lowe's with a slightly smaller mesh pattern than what I've seen on others - which makes it looks less of a homemade job. It also comes pre painted (black) with a nice finish on both sides - looks to have been dipped as opposed to sprayed. I bought 4 pieces for the mod - although you may be able to get away with only 3 if you make tight/accurate cuts. At $2.98 per piece I wasn't too concerned with purchasing the extra one. For my mesh, zip mounts, ties and epoxy I have about $33 in the entire mod. Looks every bit as good (perhaps even better) than some of the +$100 products I've seen available for this.

Here's what a single section looks like:
