Update - Clutch exploded due to extreme heat / Clutch - Screeching noise.

I am editing this post instead of new post.

Hey sportsfans,
I have had bad luck with my 2008 sahara unl (90k miles). I had the gear popping issue which caused two clutch replacements and a new transmission. I was driving and suddenly heard a screeching noise that only happens when the clutch is engaged.
Any ideas?
I am not sure if I should drive it to the shop or have it towed.

I am assuming that you have a warranty on the clutch work. I would call the shop and ask them what they want you to do.

Here is the issue. The dealer will want to say the clutch went out again due to user error. A clutch is a wear item, the transmission is covered under the powertrain.

When the clutch went out last time I could smell it. This was different. It worked fine but the noise was horrible.

Thanks Moezer. Pretty close to mine. I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me. They will want to say it is a wear item, I want it covered on the powertrain.
Sounds like the same issue.

Dealer just called. He said they need 4 hours to take it apart to see what's wrong. Problem is that to be covered under the warranty, I need to take it to them.

What a kick in the nuts. The dealer says it needs a new clutch which is a wear item. Not covered under the power train. Said it exploded due to high temps!
I am going to post a different thread.

Update
The dealer (after four days) said the clutch came apart and the metal was blue from the heat.
This same dealer replaced the clutch 20,000 miles ago. They say the clutch is a wear item unrelated to the transmission which is covered under the powertrain.
They don't know what could of caused it.
Please help, the clutch didn't wear down, it broke.
Moezer, is this still the same issue you had?

So a little humor... I just got back from the dealer. They gave me a whole bunch of reasons why a clutch just fails after 20k miles; towing a boat, getting stuck in the snow, driving in the suburbs, user habits...
They said the industry in general is moving away from manual transmissions for this very reason...
I called Chrysler and they think something is wrong and have escalated it.

Funny. I told the service dept on Wed to look at the push bearing. They laughed and said not to trust advice from the "internet". They called me this morning (Saturday) to say it was the push bearing.
