Cloth Seat Sealants/waterproofing

I saw a post on a build thread I can not find speaking of using some sort of industrial spray on sealant for the cloth seats to be water resistant. Seems like a good alternative to seat covers. I live in Southern florida and quick storms come up. I'm looking to protect the seats from getting mildew and ruined by rain.

Anyone have any experience with this. Also, is it a worth while alternative to picking up some Iggee seat covers. That was my first thought.
