Check Engine Light Codes

I did the EVAP Canister relocation the other weekend and the check engine light just came on. The two codes that registered were:

P0440 General EVAP System Failure
P0456 EVAP Purge System Small Leak

I plan on fixing the leak this weekend but my question is about the other code, P0440. Would this code register because of the small leak or is there a possible other problem that I am having. I am assuming that if I fix the leak then I will fix the general failure. Is my rational correct?

Thanks for the help

They are related codes. Either a hose is not connected or sealing or your ESIM switch is not connected or making contact. You should have 5 volts and a ground at the connector at the cannister - check all fittings and your gas cap ! Good luck.
