Can I replace my fuel tank with the 4 door's tank

I have a 2 door 2011 Sahara and would like replace the fuel tank with one from a 4 door. Is this possible? What is the difference between the 2 fuel tanks? What would I have to do to make the 4 door's fuel tank in my 2 door? It would give me greater range with the many long trips I take.

no it wont fit. would not be worth it to even bother.

you can add another tank there are a few ways. none are cheep. i think gen right has the better for wheeling choices. I do not remember the company but if you google the idea it will come up. They were from I think Australia that built a under mounted side frame tank for Jk's. drivers side. all involve rerouting exhaust and other changes i believe.

GenRight makes them for inboarding or the mounted like a Tj that adds up to 20 gallons. fills like stock. by the time you buy the tank and its skid, rear anti rock relocate exhaust. do it your self will burn up 2.5k easy.

In this picture, you can see how long the 4dr tank is. It takes up all the length available on the 4dr frame.

One is longer than the other.

You could cut your body tub and chassis in half and weld on extensions.

Thanks for all the great information. My tank is starting to "burp" when I refuel and I was hoping to use the larger tank. You guy are the best.

I hope the burping doesn't develop into full on spit back. If you have any warranty you might want to report it to the dealer.
