Has anyone who installed the Bushwacker flat style flares had any issues with the adhesive tape after the install? I want to order a front set only, but am a little concerned about the tape part. Thanks.

That's my plan but still haven't made up my mind which ones to get. I have a problem when it comes to two or more choices; it takes me forever to pick one.:brickwall

Well, I'm not sure what issues you are expecting so I can't be to specific. However, I didn't have any issues. The hardest part was cutting out the part of the fender liner that isn't needed. It wasn't particularity difficult but the instructions warn you about 3,500 times that if you cut it too short or too long it won't fit...no pressure. Make sure you use the alcohol wipe to get it nice and clean before you peel back the adhesive cover on the strip.
I really like the looks of these flares but had the same thought when I read the install instructions somewhere. I'm sure the adhesive is strong but I would worry long term it might fail and become a maintenance issue.
Probably overthinking it. They definately look killer.
The old pocket style Bushwackers were known as "Bushcrackers" because once you hit something with them they shatter or at least crack like no tomorrow. Is the flat style any better?
Mine have been on for a couple months with no problems with the adhesive. For those who don't know, the adhesive is just on the upper side of the internal brackets and the lower part is screwed in. Before install, I was a little concerned about this design but I think it's really to make them break away easy in the event of a collision with an obstacle.
The material is fairly pliable so I don't see much potential for shattering.
I just put them on my 4dr. They are not kidding about cutting too short. After about the 6th beer or so, I got to the passender front, went a little off the line with the sawsall. Lesson learned, 120 from the dealer for a new one. There was no problem with the tape. But, only on for two weeks. I guess if the tape failed you could order just the rubber seal.
That tape doesn't do anything. I think it's more to keep the water out. They did a really good job on the design. If you look at the directions you'll see what I'm talking about. In fact, I'd say they are held on better than the factory flares.
Good to know...... where r guys buying yours? Did anyone run this with the stock bumper for a while? I imagine it looks funny but will have to wait to save up a little more for the able front bumper
A little story about Bushwacker. They are a grade A company. I had a problem installind my corner guards. Actually the tape backing broke about mid way of pulling it off in a spot where it cannot be removed without pulling the good part off. I was able to catch another couple of inches down the line and pull more backing off. I was a bit concerned so I dropped them a line. Within a couple days they got back to me and without really asking a new set arrived at my door! I was amazed that some companies have such good customer service!
The flares are held on better than the stock in my opinion - no problem with the tape, but lining up the small screws on the underside was a bit tricky - finally used a punch to line up the holes and then get the screw in straight - talking to the Bushwhacker folks at EJS, they agreed that was a tricky part.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I haven’t heard anything bad about them but now that I’m actually going to buy them I was a little concerned about the tape. Seams like I was worrying for nothing. I read that part about trimming not to short and was thinking it would be just my luck to screw that part up. I’m not shy when it comes to handling tools but I do have to admit it make me a bit nervous.

Ok, so I’ve been convinced to get the Bushwacker flat flares and I called up to order them. Crap, just my luck, they’re on a national backorder according to the sales rep.:brickwall I’ll call around tomorrow to see if somebody else has them but I really don’t expect to find any.
I was going to get them from AutoAnything at $273 for the fronts with free shipping. They were the cheapest I could find. Doesn’t really mean anything though if they don’t have them.

The tape is not an issue unless you are going to remove them. it just holds the little rubber trim in place. the fenders are quite stout and i have gently rubbed a few trees with them and they held. they look like you have a 4" lift at stock. I would do both the front and rear though. if you cant get the lights to work switch the wires the led lights work one way and i had to do black to white on the wiring. don't forget the $50 rebate from bushwacker.

They have a plastic frame bolted to the body and screws hold them on from the underside. you can see the instructions on quadratec's site. it will take several hours to install them

I put mine on 2 weeks ago. 4 of the stainless bolts galled and froze with the nylok nuts! I recommend test threading them just in case. Other than this, things went smoothly. The online instructions have better pics.
Amazon had the best price at the time that I purchased.
yeah the website is kinda strange with this information. As it is claiming that this fender flare would add 9.5inches of coverage. And then it mentions that the pocket style adds 2inches of coverage. I'm just not sure I cant believe that the flat flares could add 9.5 inches of extra coverage. My issues is that I'm trying to get my Jeep inspected and the laws in Mass have gotten much more strict over the past two years making it more and more difficult to have any modifications done to your jeep.
The bushwacker gives you 9.5" of flair from the fender, the same as the stock flair on the front and 5" on the back so it will not give you any more coverage width wise over the stock.
